Our History: From Pampa, TX to Houston, TX.

Our company began in 1926 when Mr. Rufus Smith and his son Moss began oilfield hauling in the Texas Panhandle oilfields around Pampa, Texas.  In a short time, they discovered the need for pipe thread protectors and soon developed a thriving business buying and selling thread protectors in the local area. By 1928, the business was centrally located in the Kilgore area and flourished until the steep decline in the West Texas oilfields in 1930. They soon left the Kilgore area for the booming oil town of Houston, Texas,   and began servicing the oilfield supply companies from a warehouse on the North Side. Mr. Smith and Moss Smith established our previous location there in 1933 at 2605 Chapman Street, serving customers that are still with us to this day. R. Smith and Son, Inc. relocated in late 2007 to our current place of business at 23223 W. Hardy in Houston where we have vastly expanded our operations and storage facilities. We pride ourselves in our service and dependability, getting your order right the first time, every time, and on time. Tommy has been with the company since 1981 and has been instrumental in growing R. Smith and Son, Inc. into the foremost thread protector supplier in the world.

Randall Bell

Manager

Randall is the Manager at R. Smith and Son, Inc. and has been with the company since 2008 when he graduated from University of Houston. Randall is responsible for most of the day-to-day operations at the company as well as order quotation, packing and shipping operations.

Jerrye Bell

Administrative Assistant

Jerrye is the company's Administrative Assistant in charge of Customer Service, Invoice reconciliation, and Billing Department. Jerrye has been with the Company since 2011 and has been helping keep the business running efficiently and helping our clients with any issues they have with their invoices or other paperwork.
